Below is a list of frequently asked questions we are faced with routinely;
Q: I've never taken Jiu-Jitsu or any other Martial Art for that matter, Can I train at your School?
A: Yes All of our classes are available to students of all levels. We only ask for time, dedication and willingness to Learn.
Q: Do I have to compete to train with the competition team?
A: No. You can be a novice and still take that class, just be aware that the pace is much faster and more demanding.
Q: Does Jorge Gurgel actually teach the classes?
A: Jorge teaches the evening classes on most weeknights. The only times he misses are when he is training for a upcoming fight or cornering one of his fighters.
Q: Can beginners, those not athletically gifted, or haven't won multiple state championships train at your school?
A: Yes! Though we have many high caliber individuals train at our school, anyone can train here, regardless of your ability or lack there of. If you stay the course and train hard, we will train you to reach whatever personal goals you want to reach.
Q: Can I get Private training?
A: Yes we have private training available throughout the day, Call 513-727-8089 to schedule an appointment
Q: What do you offer private training in?
A: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, MMA, Training, Exercise, and General Healthy Lifestyle habits.
Q: Is it ok if I come and watch a class?
A: Yes Your more than welcome to come and watch our classes
Q: Can I try a class before joining?
A: Yes, Just show up with gym clothes and let the instructor know your interested in trying out a class.
Q: What is Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA?
A: Our Mixed Martial Arts criteria is a combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, and American Boxing. Drawing on proving techniques, you actually put together what works best for your style/body type. MMA is the currently the fastest growing martial arts style in the U.S. because of its effectiveness for self defense, athleticism and opportunity for competition.
Q: What kind of classes do you offer?
A: We offer classes in MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Grappling, Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Boxing
Q: What if I have no desire to compete and just want to take classes for fun, Can I train at your facility
A: Yes, Training at JG MMA Academy is not just for fighters. In fact the largest number of our students train for other reasons like self-defense, fitness and social activity. It is also a great emotional outlet.
Q: Do women train at JG MMA Academy?
A: Yes! We have women that take our MMA Classes, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Classes and of course our Women's Kickboxing class.
Q: What about children training?
A: We currently offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for children ages 5 and up. We will be adding more children's classes in the near future.
Q: Is MMA good for self-defense?
A: MMA is excellent for developing composure to dealing with stressful situations and boosts self-confidence to protect yourself.
Q: I have physical disabilities. Can I train at your school?
A: As long a your cleared by your doctor, we open our doors to everyone. If you require extra attention we highly recommend privates so that a program can be custom tailored you your needs.
Q: I or my child has ADD is this activity a good outlet?
A: Yes! In fact our most successful students have ADD and use our facility as an outlet and stress reliever!
